The Government of Japan has made a bill to establish a National Security Council, which will oversee policy in the field of international relations and security.

Representatives of the government passed this bill committee of experts on Tuesday. The bill states that the basis of the Security Council will be meeting the Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Defence, and General Secretary of the Cabinet.

These four ministers will decide on the medium-and long-term policy and security strategy. They will also receive the initial response in cases of major natural disasters and other emergency situations.

The Council will meet regularly four ministers and five other members of the cabinet, who will discuss the major policy measures in the field of security.

Japan's prime minister will be invited to attend these meetings, the commander of Self-Defense Forces of Japan.
