Local authorities have revised the last border exclusion zone near the nuclear power plant emergency, "Fukushima Dai-ichi", giving the former residents access to certain parts of their residence in the town of Futaba.

All the inhabitants of this city had to be evacuated as a result of the accident at the nuclear power plant "Fukushima Dai-ichi" after the earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.

On Monday, authorities Futaba divided the city into two parts, depending on the levels of radiation. Much of the city remains a zone prohibited to stay. However, for the first time after a disaster former residents of this city will be able to visit the coastal region, although they will not be allowed to spend the night there.

The mayor of Futaba Shiro Izawa said his city has finally taken the first step on the road to recovery. He said that work on decontamination, the city will continue, and that he would consult with the government on the restructuring of the areas devastated by the tsunami.
